Resource Program

This program provides the support necessary to ensure quality licensed child care programs maximize every child’s potential for active participation. The program consists of Special Needs Resource Workers who work with child care centres and community agencies to assist with children with special needs. A special need can be identified as requiring support either for a short or long term. A child may experience difficulties in any of the developmental areas.

The program also helps to:

  • Develop and implement individualized service plans for each special needs child
  • To assist licensed child care centres by providing training
  • To support the staff and parents

The Special Needs Resource Workers conduct site visits to provide ongoing support to licensed child care centres for the children in care. This program is available in the Districts of Sudbury East, Espanola, and Manitoulin to infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age children up to 12 years of age who are enrolled in a licensed child care centre.
